Reception Class
Welcome to Reception Class!
In Reception we love to learn through play! We have 7 areas that we explore; Literacy, Maths, Understanding the world, Physical Development, Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Expressive Arts and Design, and, Communication and Language. We also go to Forest School every Friday and have a chance to explore our outside environment! In Reception we read lots of books every day and we encourage reading at home too!
During the first term in Reception, learning is a balance of adult-led and child-initiated activities. Adult-led sessions include more structured learning, such as phonics, early maths, and small group work. Alongside this, children have access to a wide range of child-initiated activities, where they can explore and engage with resources that interest them, helping to develop independence, curiosity, and a love of learning.
