Year Six Southgate Class
Welcome to Year 6
In Year 6 we build on making the children more independent learners following on from their time in Year 5. The children are expected to continue to increase their pace and stamina for learning.
We start the year with a three-day residential to encourage team building and independence. Children get the opportunity to participate in adventurous outdoor activities and team building skills. This is a great start to their final year in primary school. All children are encouraged to ‘Let their Light Shine’ throughout the year be it in school or on school trips.
In Year 6 we enjoy the privilege of being the oldest children in the school as are given greater independence and responsibility. Throughout the year we can take part in activities such as being Chaplains, House Captains and School Councillors. We are trusted as buddies to the youngest children – even taking part in Forest School with them – and role models for the rest of the school.
